About us
Who we are
Agape Self Sufficiency (ASSUF) is a humanitarian organization committed to supporting victims and families affected by the ongoing crisis in Anglophone Cameroon. Established in 2018, our mission is to alleviate poverty and promote self-sufficiency among refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) who have been severely impacted by violence and displacement. The crisis has resulted in the displacement of over 160,000 individuals, with many living in dire conditions without access to basic necessities.
Our organization was founded in response to the urgent need for support among these vulnerable populations. The ongoing conflict has led to mass shootings, the destruction of entire villages, and the loss of countless lives. Our work focuses on providing immediate relief and long-term solutions that empower individuals to regain their dignity and independence through skills training, business setups, and community involvement.
At ASSUF, we believe that every individual deserves the opportunity to thrive. Our holistic approach encompasses access to food, healthcare, education, community support, safety, well-being, income generation, and employment opportunities. We aim not only to meet immediate needs but also to equip individuals with the tools necessary for sustainable livelihoods.
Causes
At ASSUF, we focus on several critical areas that address the multifaceted needs of our beneficiaries.
Education
Access to quality education is often disrupted in conflict zones. Our initiatives provide financial support for school fees, educational materials, and resources that enable orphans and vulnerable children to continue their studies. We prioritize orphans and vulnerable children living in remote villages, ensuring they have the opportunity to learn and grow.
Healthcare
Health is a fundamental human right, yet many refugees face significant barriers to accessing medical care. We work to provide essential medical support, including vaccinations, health screenings, and resources for families in need. Our goal is to ensure that orphans and vulnerable children have access to adequate healthcare.
Food Security
Many families struggle with food insecurity, which can aggravate existing challenges. Our agricultural projects aim to cultivate sustainable food sources, providing nourishment to orphans and vulnerable families. By promoting self-sufficiency through farming, we help communities become less reliant on external aid.
Community Development
We believe in empowering communities to take charge of their futures. Our initiatives support the establishment of small businesses, vocational training, and cooperative farming projects. By equipping individuals with the skills and resources they need, we foster economic independence and resilience.
